Christopher Columbus

Christopher Columbus was an Italian explorer and navigator, widely credited with opening up the Americas to European colonization. Born in Genoa, he undertook four significant voyages across the Atlantic Ocean, the most famous of which began in 1492 when he reached the islands of the Caribbean. His writings, including the "Amerikan löytöretken päiväkirja" (Diary of the American Discovery), provide insight into his experiences and the early encounters between Europeans and indigenous peoples.
