A Casa do Saltimbanco

The narrative follows a young boy, Adalberto, who enjoys an idyllic country estate—gardens, a labyrinth, animals—and the affectionate routine of family life overseen by figures like aunt Barru and the exacting Rosinha. Childhood play and gentle instruction alternate with lessons about duty, reward, and order. Despite warm surroundings, Adalberto develops a pattern of disobedience that culminates in his disappearance; an infamous creature abducts him, triggering alarm and searches that reveal the consequences of unchecked impulses within a disciplined household.
