About This Book

The work traces causes and conduct of the early nineteenth-century Anglo-American war, beginning with diplomatic grievances and maritime policies and moving through land campaigns in the Northwest and along the Gulf coast, engagements with Indigenous nations, naval duels and privateering, and key sieges and invasions. It recounts major operations on lakes and coasts, political debates and peace negotiations, and the sequence of battles that shaped the conflict’s outcome, concluding with the diplomatic settlement. Chapters combine chronological narrative, battle accounts, and examinations of political and naval strategy.
