(To his great detriment, the publishers made the first edition 1600 copies, which have not been sold off in forty years, thus rendering a second edition impossible (see No. XXVIII., p. 17). After the publication of the above first part, so many alterations were suggested that Q. cancelled and republished it under the title of “La France Littéraire,” (see Biblio. de la France—Pillet Ainé—for 1827.) The large paper copies (p. 13) were not for sale. The parts of the work were published quarterly. The 10 vols. sell at 120 francs. Vols. xi. and xii. form a sort of index and revision of Quérard’s works, and a supplement up to their dates. With the prospectus of vol. xii. two pages for substitution were issued in 1857, which also contained several pages (4-6) of errors and omissions of L. L. F. C. These two vols. sell at 60 francs.)
