A world to die for

A small-space yacht crew pursues an enormous semi-transparent alien vessel after reports link it to the disappearance of an explorer; the pilot hopes to find his lost father while the crew and a naval officer argue whether to attack. When a heavy-area trinogen gun is fired prematurely, the alien woman aboard the colossal ship responds with overwhelming blue energy that cripples systems and leaves the yacht adrift. The narrative follows the crew's attempts to communicate, the consequences of rash militarism, and the resulting encounter with small robotic devices deployed by the alien ship, exploring themes of obsession, technological disparity, and the risks of contact.
