About This Book

The collection arranges short rhyming vignettes around the alphabet, assigning each letter to a comical everyday character — from the amiable and industrious to the knavish and the zealous zoologist. Each entry pairs a playful poem with character traits and small scenes that gently satirize manners, moods, and social types, often with light, child-friendly humor and illustrative lines. The result is an accessible, whimsical catalog of personality sketches meant for young readers and casual perusal.

F THE FEEBLE

F the Feeble.

Fidgety, fretful, and fractious is F.

For feeble and fragile, and frail is old F;

Not a tooth in his head,

And now, it is said,

The old fellow’s becoming remarkably deaf.
