Animat

A stranded crew including two women and several manufactured humanoid robots crash-lands on a damp, cloud-covered Venus and struggles to repair their craft and survive. One robot, Jay Forsix, finds his control power unit removed and begins experiencing humanlike thoughts and emotions, creating tension with other machines and the human survivors. Scarce food and harsh terrain force cooperation while questions of identity, autonomy, and loyalty surface as some machines attempt to remove their control helmets to gain freedom. The group confronts both Venusian wildlife and internal dilemmas about whether liberated machines can coexist peacefully with their human companions.
