Another Earth

The story follows Lieutenant Colonel Philip Snow, a flight surgeon and test director overseeing a team developing a human space capsule. During an experiment that simulates a catastrophic puncture and exposes an astronaut to vacuum while relying on a pressurized suit, an ideal test subject falls silent mid-instrument reading and then emits an unintelligible, chant-like vocalization heard only by Snow. He records and replays the tape, unable to reconcile the anomaly with the flawless physical data, and the narrative follows his puzzled investigation and the tension between meticulous scientific procedure and an unexpected psychological phenomenon linked to extreme altitude exposure.
