About This Book
The story follows an outlaw called Beau Brocade whose daring robbery of a coach provokes a military manhunt across a windswept heath. Local figures including the blacksmith John Stich, the shepherd Jock Miggs, and the gentlewoman Patience become entangled in efforts to shelter, betray, or capture him. A squire's persistent courtship adds romantic complication while loyalties are strained and clandestine plans take shape. Episodes move between forge, moor, and village, culminating in confrontations and reconciliations that examine honor, sacrifice, and the ties of friendship and love.
