British Sea Birds

An illustrated natural history survey of coastal birdlife, organized by families and species, surveying gulls, terns, plovers, sandpipers, auks, divers, grebes, cormorants, ducks, geese, swans, petrels, and littoral land birds. Each account describes identification, seasonal plumage changes, breeding habits and nest sites, feeding and migratory behaviour, and relative distribution along the coasts, with guidance on where to observe them. Chapters also discuss affinities among groups, structural characteristics, and notes on variation and local status.
