About This Book
Two young siblings spend time at a lakeside summer camp with family and other children, where ordinary camp tasks lead into a sequence of small adventures and dangers. They help erect tents, confront a black bear, encounter a ragged boy, and endure a fierce storm while strange sounds and odd behavior by their dog cause concern. A boating mishap leads to the disappearance of a companion, prompting searches through woods, a smoke-house, and a cave, and the children take part in traps, rescues, and efforts that ultimately bring the group safely back to camp.
