About This Book
A man awakens from suspended animation aboard a spacecraft with fragmented memory and an automated system repeatedly identifying him and issuing cryptic instructions. He experiences weightlessness, examines unfamiliar controls, and peers through portholes at a star-filled void while trying to interpret sparse orders about assuming manual command and avoiding schedule deviation. Moving through narrow corridors he finds several crew members kept in suspension and confronts growing panic as he attempts to revive them and to reconstruct the purpose of the experiment. The narrative focuses on disorientation, the technical and moral pressures of leadership under incomplete information, and the struggle to reclaim identity and purpose amid isolation.
