About This Book

A chronological study of a queen consort who becomes regent, tracing her influence on government, court life, and family dynamics during a pivotal reign. The narrative follows accession and early administration, relationships with ministers, the organization and ceremonial of the royal household, episodes of regency, and political controversies including fiscal reform proposals.
