CONTADINA

Bestia opulenta e morbida, che ridi

a me col riso de' bei denti bianchi,

tu somigli alla terra; ed i tuoi fianchi

dan figli come il solco dà la spica.

L'anima tua non t'è fatta nemica,

perchè d'averla tu non sai, nè pensi.

Hanno il tuo sguardo gli orizzonti immensi.

Le zolle han la tua forza e il tuo turgore.

Sia che falci, a meriggio, i prati in fiore,

o ammucchi, a vespro, in auree biche il fieno,

o all'ignudo poppante offra il tuo seno,

o spannocchi sull'aja o lavi al fonte,

ombra non v'ha che turbi la tua fronte,

femmina che bevesti alle sorgenti

di giovinezza, e ridi co' bei denti

di lupatta, e per tutti i sensi godi

cantando sulla terra che dissodi.
