Equation of Doom

An interstellar transfer pilot is stranded when the native government abruptly confines hyper-space operations to its own people, leaving outworld crews marooned and dependent. He responds by squandering his funds, provoking local authorities, and forming a perilous alliance with a volatile companion while navigating gambling, black markets, and shifting loyalties. The story portrays official efforts to control titanium resources, cultural friction between reptilian natives and human outsiders, and the protagonist’s growing anguish at being unable to return home or protect those he cares about. Tension arises from improvised survival, political maneuvering, and the moral compromises isolation demands.
