Flames of the Storm
About This Book
The story is set in a drought-stricken river valley where scarce water and grazing spark bitter rivalry between cattlemen and sheepherders. A lanky cowboy named Skeeter Bill survives an attempt on his life and encounters a weary sheepherder, Jim Kirk, amid rising hostility. At the center, a gunman named Nick Kales sells his services to rancher Cleve Hart, precipitating violence that leads to Hart's killing and Skeeter Bill's arrest and conviction. The aftermath leaves cowhands resentful, wages reduced, and the range held in an uneasy, armed truce as characters confront survival, loyalty, and consequences of hired violence.
