About This Book

A sequence of lyric poems in Galician that blend evocative depictions of misty coastal and rural landscapes with intimate meditations on grief, longing, and domestic life. The voice alternates tender, maternal and elegiac tones with sharper social awareness, addressing scarcity, departure, and cultural memory. Varied forms—short songs, narrative fragments, and longer reflective pieces—use folk rhythms and vivid natural imagery to explore language, belonging, and the persistence of feeling across absence and change.

A VENTURA É TRAIDORA

Tembra á qu’unha inmensa dicha

Neste mundo te sorprenda;

Grorias, aquí, sobrehumanas

Trân desventuras supremas.

Nin maxines que pasan os dôres

Como pasan os gustos n’a terra;

¡Hay infernos n’a memoria,

Cando n’os hay n’a concencia!

Cal arraigan as edras n’os muros,

N’alguns peitos arraigan as penas,

E un-has van minando a vida

Cal minan outra-l-as pedras.

Si; tembra, cando n’o mundo

Sintas un-ha dicha imensa;

Val mais qu’a tua vida corra

Cal corre a yaugua serena.
