About This Book

A sequence of lyric poems in Galician that blend evocative depictions of misty coastal and rural landscapes with intimate meditations on grief, longing, and domestic life. The voice alternates tender, maternal and elegiac tones with sharper social awareness, addressing scarcity, departure, and cultural memory. Varied forms—short songs, narrative fragments, and longer reflective pieces—use folk rhythms and vivid natural imagery to explore language, belonging, and the persistence of feeling across absence and change.

Qué pracidamente brilan

O rio, a fonte y o sol,

Canto brilan... mais non brilan

Para min, non.

Cal medran erbas e arbustos,

Cal brota n’a arbor a frol,

Mais non medran, nin frorecen

Para min, non.

Cal cantan os paxariños

Enamoradas canciós,

Mais anque cantan, non cantan

Para min, non.

Cal a natureza hermosa

Sorri á Mayo qu’a mimou,

Mais para min non sorri,

Para min, non.

Si... para todos un pouco

D’aire, de luz, de calor...

Mais si para todos hay,

Para min, non.

¡E ben!... xa qu’aquí n’atopo

Aire, luz, terra, nin sol,

¿Para min n’habra un-ha tomba?

Para min, non.
