About This Book

A sequence of lyric poems in Galician that blend evocative depictions of misty coastal and rural landscapes with intimate meditations on grief, longing, and domestic life. The voice alternates tender, maternal and elegiac tones with sharper social awareness, addressing scarcity, departure, and cultural memory. Varied forms—short songs, narrative fragments, and longer reflective pieces—use folk rhythms and vivid natural imagery to explore language, belonging, and the persistence of feeling across absence and change.

CADA COUSA N’O SEU TEMPO

D’o alegre Mayo, un-ha alborada fresca

Foit’á sorrir n’o outono malencónico,

E por nadal os membros ateridos

Quentache ben contente, á un sol d’agosto;

Despois trembaches espantado, e fuches

Buscand’a sombra inquieto e pesaroso,

Mais a mamoria preguizosa, tarde,

Trouxera ô teu recordo

Que aqueses cambios bruscos

Raros e intempestosos

De loitos e pesares, n’esta vida,

Sinal segura eternamente fonon.

E tras d’aquel calor que ch’emprestara

N’o inverno un sol d’agosto

So sentiche d’a frebe o mortal frio

Qu’ helou hastr’os teus osos.

As cousas n’o seu tempo

Y as feras n’o seu tobo.
