About This Book

A sequence of lyric poems in Galician that blend evocative depictions of misty coastal and rural landscapes with intimate meditations on grief, longing, and domestic life. The voice alternates tender, maternal and elegiac tones with sharper social awareness, addressing scarcity, departure, and cultural memory. Varied forms—short songs, narrative fragments, and longer reflective pieces—use folk rhythms and vivid natural imagery to explore language, belonging, and the persistence of feeling across absence and change.

SIN TERRA

—¡Calade ou ventos nouturnos,

Calá fonte d’a Serena,

Qu’alá por cabo d’as Trompas

Quer’oir quen chega!

Calaron os ventos todos

Xurrou a fonte mais queda,

E vin qu’iban á enterrar

O corazon d’ela.

Vina despois inda viva

Por campos e por devesas,

Mais iña par’un-ha tomba

Pedindo terra.

Nón-n’atopou, e por eso,

Amostra âs vistas alleas

Inda aquel corazon morto

A sua cangrena.
