About This Book
The narrative follows Richard Longsword, a headstrong young knight whose recklessness is tempered by fellowship, combat, and spiritual struggle as he joins the expedition to reclaim holy places. Across sea voyages and encounters in Sicily and the Levant he gains allies and enemies, endures sieges and ambushes, and confronts betrayal, mercy, and personal remorse. Encounters with Muslim leaders and secretive factions, plus the discovery and contest over a sacred relic, test loyalties and deepen questions of faith. The book mixes vivid battle scenes, intimate character moments, and reflections on piety to dramatize the physical and moral costs of the crusading endeavor.
