Hellflower

The story follows a disgraced spaceman whose career was wrecked after a deadly landing and who now lives in the fungus fields of Venus; an anti-narcotics agent recruits him to infiltrate and stop distribution of a perfumed bloom whose scent induces overpowering desire and reduces victims to spent husks. As he pursues the trail he confronts a beautiful woman of uncertain nature and becomes entangled in espionage, temptation, and revenge. The narrative mixes planetary settings, investigative suspense, and speculative biology to examine manipulation, addiction, and a man's struggle for redemption amid criminal and otherworldly forces.
