About This Book

A young Levite pilgrim journeys to Jerusalem and, across festivals, rituals, and encounters, seeks to revive his family's priestly vocation. He experiences inner conflict between worldly commerce and sacred calling, as he participates in Passover, Pentecost, and other feasts, receives instruction in sacerdotal duties, and observes sects such as the Essenes. The narrative interweaves ceremonial description, legal and ritual episodes—betrothal, nuptials, the avenger of blood, the water of jealousy, the Day of Atonement, and the Feast of Tabernacles—with personal devotion, moral reflection, and community life, culminating in priestly admission, family reconciliation, and rites that bind individual piety to communal tradition.
