A collection of short experimental tales, verses, and jingles created for children ages two to seven and arranged by developmental level. The pieces draw on immediate, familiar sensory and motor experiences, favoring simple repetitive patterns for toddlers and gradually introducing longer-span narratives and social relationships for older preschoolers. An introduction outlines the educational and psychological rationale and the author’s method of adapting content and form from children’s own observations and group work. Many items invite motor participation or sound play, and the book mixes child-sourced episodes with intentionally crafted stories and songs to support language, attention, and imaginative play.

[B] At this point the teacher might ask, “What else?” Not the first time, however. The children must get the outline as a whole before they contribute. Otherwise they will be entirely absorbed by the content.
