In Quest of Gold; Or, Under the Whanga Falls

Two brothers, Alec and George, set out from their homestead to follow reports of gold beyond distant ranges. With local guides, loyal horses and a hunting hound, they traverse open downs, scrub and mountains, confront betrayal in camp, violent encounters and a destructive fire, and undertake engineering work to exploit a mountain stream. They discover gold but must abandon the valley when bushrangers and other threats close in, prompting daring escapes, night rides and final reckonings that determine how the expedition concludes and how the boys make their way home.
