Jockele und die Mädchen
Roman aus dem heutigen Weimar von

The narrative follows life in a Thuringian hill village where an elderly, unwed woman who keeps a neat, sunlit household unexpectedly receives a small foundling on Jakobustag. The child, called Zinzilein, becomes the center of domestic tenderness, awakens the woman's maternal instincts, and alters relations with the woodcutter parents who regard the child as a stranger and a guest. The story weaves rural customs, seasonal nature imagery, occasional gypsy presence, and quiet scenes of everyday care to explore belonging, gentle devotion, and the small rituals that shape communal life.
