About This Book
A favored son provokes his brothers' jealousy by wearing a splendid coat and recounting strange dreams that imply he will rule over them. Betrayed and sold into slavery, he is carried far from home, where hardship gives way to advancement after he proves able to interpret dreams and manage scarce resources. Rising to great authority in a foreign land, he confronts his family years later and must choose between punishment and pardon. The narrative follows his journey from boyhood favoritism through exile and success, exploring themes of envy, fate, resilience and forgiveness across a sequence of episodic adventures.
