Jupiter's Joke

A daring smuggler caught with illegal Kooleen crystals is offered a full pardon and reward if he will travel into Jupiter's Great Red Spot to extract the anti-gravity secret from enigmatic insectlike inhabitants. Initially refusing and resigned to prison, he is maneuvered into the mission while incarcerated, meets fellow detainees with competing schemes and stolen gems, and is drawn into a hazardous expedition orchestrated by bureaucrats and opportunists.
