continuando Rovani ha continuato Manzoni:
operò tale rivoluzione nelle lettere italiane,
nella forma e nel pensiero,
che le ha innerbate pei secoli;
ma non permise per sè imitatori dozzinali:
disconosciuto,
protende all'epoca, che già s'inalba,
la sua vera gloria confermata,
che i coetanei, troppo sordidi e sordi,
distrattamente, non gli concessero.
