Quelle que soit la vérité dernière, que nous admettions l'infini abstrait, absolu et parfait, l'infini immobile, immuable, arrivé et qui sait tout, où tend notre raison; ou que nous préférions celui que nous offre le témoignage, ici-bas irrécusable de nos sens, l'infini qui se cherche, évolue et ne s'est pas encore fixé; ce qu'avant tout il nous importe d'y prévoir, c'est notre sort qui, d'ailleurs, dans l'un et l'autre cas, doit se confondre avec cet infini même.
