Le socialisme en danger

The author surveys contemporary currents of social democracy, especially in Germany, and warns that reliance on parliamentary tactics and the capture of state power can subvert emancipatory aims. He critiques dogmatic readings of Marx that are used to justify electoralism and bureaucratic domination, exposes how political careers and compromises corrupt revolutionary objectives, and contrasts these tendencies with a growing libertarian socialism rooted in mutual aid, decentralised initiative, and noncoercive association. The argument draws on contemporary documents and personal observation to urge resistance to political professionalisation in favor of direct, egalitarian organisation.
