Ce sont des récits assez vulgaires, rehaussés tantôt par un air de sentiment, tantôt par un air de libertinage. La troisième partie, intitulée Les Faits et gestes du vicomte de Nantel, a été réimprimée séparément en 1818 sous ce nouveau titre: Ma vie de garçon. Il s'agit encore une fois d'un grivois imberbe qui s'introduit dans un couvent de filles sous l'habit d'une sœur converse. Le XVIII^e siècle ne sortait pas de là, et l'Empire, à son tour, a perpétué cette traduction venue en ligne directe du comte Ory.
