About This Book
A very pale little girl lives with two well-meaning aunts who try various remedies to make her fat and rosy — cod liver oil, cheek-rubbing, and shielding from weather — but she only grows thinner until a doctor sends a mischievous boy to amuse her. His games and silliness lead the child to laugh, play outdoors, gain appetite, and regain health and color, much to the aunts' delight; the tale uses bright illustrations and gentle humor to celebrate play as a restorative force.
