About This Book
A detailed ethnographic and archaeological analysis of pottery produced by the Mohave people, presenting systematic descriptions of vessel shapes, spoons, jars and other objects, their painted motifs and indigenous names. One section treats use and stylistic classification from an ethnographic perspective, and a separate section evaluates ware, temper, firing and manufacturing techniques for archaeological comparison. The volume includes a concordance of terms, plates and figures illustrating forms and designs, and notes on variation, distribution and functional interpretation.
