Motion Pictures, 1894-1912 / Identified from the Records of the United States Copyright Office

This catalog compiles motion pictures registered as photographs in U.S. Copyright Office records from 1894 through 1912, presenting roughly 8,506 entries representing about 6,000 titles. Entries list title, copyright claimant, registration date, and number, with occasional bracketed clarifications added by the compiler. A Claimant Index provides chronological access by registrant. The compiler describes methods used to identify cinematic works, notes gaps and irregularities in the record, and records minor corrections while otherwise transmitting the original entries. The volume is organized for reference rather than interpretation and aims to facilitate further research into early film production.
