About This Book
The author analyzes a recently discovered Maya inscription, interprets its Long Count components and identifies the great cycle to which it belongs. He compares that date with inscriptions from several Chiapas and Guatemala sites to construct a relative chronology, finds the northern monument later than many southern dates, and relates these findings to Maya katun narratives recorded in indigenous chronicles, arguing that additional epigraphic discovery and analysis could clarify possible population movements and regional connections.
