About This Book

This practical manual provides plans and advice for farm buildings with emphasis on poultry houses, combining layout drawings, construction details, and management recommendations. It covers site selection and drainage to ensure dryness, foundation and floor options (including cement floors), space and ventilation guidelines per bird, low wall height and window placement to maximize sunlight, and roof and wall considerations to retain warmth. It also discusses yard shapes and rotation to maintain clean ground, rat-proofing, and material choices adaptable to local conditions, prioritizing wholesome, well-ventilated houses that are economical and easy to maintain.

Florian Sound-Deadening Felt

This material is used between floors as an insulator against sound. It is, without any exception, the cleanest and most effective sound-deadening felt made. The corrugations make small dead air cells when the felt is placed in position and this is considered to be the most effective method of deadening sound. Tests have proved that one sheet of Florian is equal to six sheets of ordinary deadening felt. Florian is also a good non-conductor of fire, heat and cold. It should be used between floors in every house to insure a well insulated building.
