S. 160. Die Antwort Kirilloffs auf die Frage nach Gott ist ein absoluter Widerspruch, wie nein und ja: „Jewó njet, no on jestj“. Man könnte ebensogut sagen: „Er ist nicht, aber es gibt ihn.“

S. 896 sagt Schatoff zu Kirilloff: „Gib mir, Bruder, ich gebe es dir morgen wieder.“ Die Anrede mit dem Wort „Bruder“ ist unter Russen so üblich, wie im Deutschen die Anrede mit „Freund“ oder „Lieber“.

Die russische Frau wird von russischen Männern häufig „Freund“ genannt, obschon es die Form „Freundin“ auch gibt. Es ist das psychologisch nicht unwichtig.
