Anmerkungen zur Transkription

Der vorliegende Text wurde anhand der 1913 erschienenen Buchausgabe so weit wie möglich originalgetreu wiedergegeben. Typographische Fehler wurden stillschweigend korrigiert; ungewöhnliche und altertümliche Ausdrücke bleiben gegenüber dem Original unverändert. Rechtschreibvarianten wurden nicht vereinheitlicht, sofern die Verständlichkeit des Textes dadurch nicht berührt wird. Das Unterkapitel ‚In der Foochow Road‘ (S. 62) wurde dem Inhaltsverzeichnis hinzugefügt.

Im Umschlagbild wurde die Flagge des Wutschang-Aufstands (9-strahliger gelber Stern auf rotem Grund) vom Bearbeiter wiederhergestellt. Ein Urheberrecht wird nicht geltend gemacht.
