Slave of eternity

The story follows Arnol Heric, an overseer of cereal fields whose recurring, prophetic dreams draw the Council's attention; after a fatal struggle with a patrolman he is seized and subjected to an adjuster that erases or alters memory. As the procedure unfolds he uncovers a horrific truth: multiple versions of himself and a ruined, crowded future world where he appears among identical figures compelled toward an eastern ruin. He resists mental conditioning, and the narrative examines identity, enforced conformity, and the moral cost of a society that punishes dissent by stripping agency and imposing endless repetition.
