About This Book

A shy new boy arrives at a boarding school and faces homesickness, teasing, and the challenge of fitting into house life. He gradually makes friends, withstands initiations and athletic contests, and becomes entangled in local mysteries—from a rumored ghost in an orchard to missing money—that test the group's loyalty and ingenuity. A nearby girl and other students take active parts in investigating and resolving the troubles, while rivalries, the formation of a club, and a climactic game help restore order and deepen the friendships among the pupils.
