HOW TO ENJOY PICTURES
By J. LITTLEJOHNS, R.I., R.B.A., R.C.A., R.B.C., R.W.A.
| Small Crown 4to. | 6/- net | (By post, 6/6) |
Mr. Littlejohns explains very simply and pleasantly a method of approach to pictures intended for those who have no knowledge of them and no trained sensibility.[1] The book deals simply and briefly with many of the considerations involved in composing a picture, and gives an analysis, illustrated by diagrams, of nine well-known masterpieces. The author does his work very well, and no one who reads carefully what he says and carries out his instructions can fail to find added interest if not also keener enjoyment in the contemplation of pictures.[2]
Mr. Littlejohns writes, not only with the artist's intuition, but with the clearness and simplicity derived from his experiences as a teacher of children.[3] The colour reproductions are excellent and could not be bought separately for the price of the whole book.[4]
