About This Book
The story follows teenage newspaper worker Penny Parker who, while helping at her father’s small-town paper, becomes entangled in a series of sinister events sparked by anonymous collect telegrams attacking the paper. Strange night riders, a black-hooded figure, and a missing young woman prompt Penny to investigate; her inquiries lead through local landmarks, false records, and the tracing of a recurring name, Ben Bowman. As suspicion shifts among townspeople and a man in gray appears, Penny pieces together clues, sets a trap, and obtains timely help to expose the plot and uncover the motives behind the campaign of intimidation.
