About This Book
A groom vanishes on the morning of his wedding, his bedroom found securely fastened and no immediate explanation apparent. Family tensions and rival theories erupt: his fiancée accuses his sister, others suspect a prank or abduction, and strange letters hint at ransom. The narrative tracks inquiries, local gossip, a haunted room, and a rotating cast of suspects and investigators as clues and red herrings accumulate. Social decorum, personal loyalties, and deceptive appearances complicate the search, and successive revelations and deductions gradually untangle motives and means leading to the eventual explanation of the disappearance.
