About This Book

A remote, sheltered kingdom houses a willful young princess whose curiosity drives her to ask what lies beyond the enclosing mountains. During a riverside sunset she is seized by a great eagle and carried off while her nurse falls back to the river and the court is left grieving. The narrative follows the princess as she wakes atop a mountain, confronts the bird with small acts of defiance, and endures solitary danger. When the eagle is suddenly killed by an arrow the princess peers over the precipice and glimpses possible help below. The tale adopts a classic fairy‑tale tone to examine curiosity, peril, and the caprice of fate.
