The Five Giants
About This Book
A didactic allegory presents five personified giants who embody powerful natural forces. Three elder giants—Flare, Roar, and Blow—are portrayed as both useful to industry, navigation, and daily life and dangerously destructive when angered, with episodes illustrating fires, floods, storms, and wrecked engineering projects. Two younger giants, Bounce and Rush, are introduced as less known but equally potent. Each giant's abilities, domestic and public benefits, and the havoc they can cause serve to teach readers about the double-edged nature of these forces and the need to respect and manage them responsibly.
