The Golden Scorpion

A London physician awakens to a chilling presence and is drawn into police inquiries about a shadowy Scorpion cult. Through detective reports, witness statements and confessions the narrative traces conspiracies involving a mesmerising dancer, an Indian operative, opium dens, and a ring that practices ritualized murder and theft of life. Episodes alternate between investigation and first-person statements that reveal secret signs, a sealed envelope, and clandestine communications; clues lead the protagonists from Parisian dance halls to an opium den and finally to the Scorpion's lair, where the order's methods and the mystery behind its living-death practices are exposed.
