About This Book
The knight and his squire travel with an outlaw leader by secret roads to a coastal city, where the outlaw's anxious, furtive routine is briefly sketched. At dawn they behold a grand naval and cavalry spectacle that fills them with wonder and provokes a comic misunderstanding by the squire. Local horsemen escort and flatter the pair into the city, but mischievous boys tuck thorny furze under the mounts' tails, throwing both riders and causing public shame. After remounting, they are led to the house of a wealthy gentleman to receive hospitality as the narrative proceeds.
