The programmed people

Set in a tightly regulated Hive, the narrative depicts ritualized services, quick public Votes, and an authoritarian clergy supported by Goons. Public anxiety spikes when authorities announce a traced dissident, a young blonde woman, and the plot follows Lloyd Bodger as he scrambles to preserve his voting record and is unexpectedly aided by her. The story juxtaposes mechanical civic procedures and surveillance with small human gestures, examining conformity, social pressure, and the fragile scope for individual choice within a bureaucratic, ritual-bound society.
