About This Book

An adventurous mystery narrated by an eccentric scholar follows a chain of crimes set off by a coveted jade amulet. A loquacious adventurer and a determined captain become entangled with a young woman and a scheming heir as theft, deceit, and abduction draw in the enigmatic Mr. Soo, police intervention, and a ruthless secret society. Investigation and pursuit lead the party through urban schemes into remote terrain, culminating in the discovery of the ancient emperor's tomb, subterranean caverns, and perilous confrontations. The plot balances detection, rescue attempts, cultural intrigue, and the unveiling of hidden chambers linked to the amulet's dark secrets.
